Are you tired of your removable dentures? Sick of having to take them out to soak them every night? Are you done dealing with sticky adhesives?
Implant-retained prosthetics, such as Nobel Biocare's All-on-4 dental implants, are changing the lives of patients who have dentures. All-on-4 dental implants offer a comprehensive way to fasten dentures for a full-arch restoration. This treatment works by inserting the screws (implants) into four areas on each arch. In contrast to other implant dentures, All-on-4 utilizes fewer implants to get a secure fit. We generally recommend All-on-4 implants if you want a fully restored mouth without the hassle and dietary restrictions that come with removable dentures. These implants don't require any special treatment, simply brush and floss as you normally would. Many San Diego, CA patients have enjoyed the advantages of the All-on-4 treatment thanks to the high-quality results. Want to learn more about All-on-4 implants and custom-made dentures? All-on-4 implants are an excellent choice for patients fed up with their removable dentures who want a more easily sustainable full-mouth restoring solution. One of our dentists will place four titanium implants into your upper and lower arch. Generally, All-on-4 implants are more secure since they integrate into the bone and attach to custom dentures. The bone integration process, combined with the durability of the titanium implants, makes them more capable of withstanding the stress caused by chewing compared to other restorative treatments. You may be right for All-on-4 if you prefer the benefits of implant-supported dentures over removable dentures, which include no or few dietary restrictions, no messy glues, and no special cleaning.
Additionally, patients will need sufficient bone and gum density to receive implants because the screws rely upon your gums and bone to hold them in position. So, make sure to take good care of your teeth and gums every day at home, and come in and see us at least a couple of times a year to maintain your dental health. If necessary, bone or gum grafts may be performed before implant surgery. We can determine if this procedure is best for you during your consultation.

"A big THANK YOU to the beautiful hardworking ladies at the downtown san diego office, i got an emergency filling in record time in a tooth that broke. They really take the weight off your shoulders in terms of "the fear of the dentist" and made it a quick and painless experience that I would recommend to anyone else who has dental needs, and a plus is that they take MEDI-CAL. They do a covid screening before making the appointment and before entering the building and everyone is pretty friendly. Thanks again!"- A.J. / Google / Dec 19, 2020
"It took me a long time to find a good and caring doctor as I have been developing a huge dentist phobia since childhood. That’s how I met Dr Michelle, a true professional. Very thoughtful, passionate, kind and understanding. Even though I moved from the area a year ago, and I tried to go see other places where I live now, I had to go back to Dr Michelle. The whole staff is totally amazing and professional.Recently I had my cleaning and as much as I felt anxious , I had an unforgettable experience with Paula, their new hygienist. She is truly one of the best experiences I had in a dentist office and I don’t have words to describe her. I felt so relaxed and no pain even though my teeth are very problematic and sensitive. When she finished I felt like crying out of happiness. She was unforgettable and I can’t wait to go back for my cleaning. As a person who dealt for a long time with this phobia, I found this place to be one of the only places where I felt relaxed. Even from the first time when I called and made an appointment and explained to them I have a huge phobia, I was recommended one of the best.I am very thankful for the whole staff, but Dr Michelle and Paula will forever have my heart! This is definitely a GO TO place and I will take the drive from La Jolla to Downtown as much as I need to!"- C.D. / Yelp / Dec 18, 2020
What to Expect
Your smile is unique, which means your All-on-4 treatment should be too. To start, we take digital scans and x-rays of your teeth. After reviewing the x-rays, we put together an individualized treatment program suited to your unique smile. These treatment plans typically happen over several months and require special at-home care and follow-up appointments. Your Dental Express treatment planner will cover all the details of your treatment plan with you, so you know what to expect. We'll also go over the options for sedation that work best for you. During your first treatment, one of our dentists will place the implants. Once we anchor the implants, we place a temporary denture over the implant to allow your mouth to heal and give us time to create your custom dentures. In several months, you should return to have your custom dentures attached and fitted.
After implant surgery, you may feel some discomfort and pain in your gums. When wearing your temporary dentures, you will have a few diet restrictions and cleaning instructions to follow. Additionally, patients should come in for routine follow-ups throughout the healing process so we can check your recovery and make sure implants integrate into your bone socket and gums. As soon as we set your custom dentures, you can clean them just like natural teeth with daily flossing and brushing. Visit us at Dental Express for annual exams and biannual cleanings to maintain your dentures and so we can monitor the health of your gums and jawbone.
Some insurance companies may provide partial coverage for custom dentures and All-on-4 implants. It's likely that you will have some personal expenses, but our staff will work with your insurance to maximize your coverage. If you don't have insurance, Dental Express accepts numerous payment methods, such as low-interest financing. Our team can help make the All-on-4 procedure fit into your budget.
