Laser Gum Treatment Overview
Having healthy gums is extremely important since problems, like gum disease and oral cancer, can affect both your oral and general health if not treated properly. At Dental Express, we utilize laser technologies to deal with a broad array of gum (periodontal) conditions. Our state-of-the-art laser helps us perform more efficient treatments of periodontitis (the advanced stage of gum disease). We also use laser technology to perform oral biopsies that detect pre-cancer and cancer in your mouth. Certain cosmetic dentistry procedures also use laser technologies to help sculpt the gums or decrease the appearance of a "gummy" smile. "This is an awesome dental office. It’s hard to find any decent dentist that will take PPO Denti-Cal. This place is fully equipped and staffed. My old dentist always did a fine job on me until he had to change his insurance plans. But his place wasn’t even as good as this place. Bottom line, I’m glad I found this place through the help of other Yelp users!"- T.T. / Yelp / Jul 03, 2020
"First and foremost I want to thank Malik Wofford for being kind and understanding of my fear of the dentist. Malik made sure I was at ease the whole appointment. Dr. Danielle did my extractions and I didn't feel a thing. I am happy that I came here. Also a thank you to RaKenya for looking after my son for his appointment and helping Malik make adjustments to my denture. Great staff and great experience. Thank you so very much."- A.L. / Google / Jul 01, 2020
"Love this dental office. It’s beautiful, comfortable, and clean. The dentists and team work well with young people. It’s a pretty diverse team, which is important to me. They communicate very well with my teens. They speak in a way the teens feel comfortable and comprehend their dental work and upcoming expectations. I highly recommend. The teens look forward to my appointments here."- L.B. / Yelp / Jun 30, 2020
"I’ve been looking for a new dentist that takes Denti-Cal sence Western Dental had terrible service. I gave Western too many chances what incompetence! I went to Dental Express Point Loma as a new patient this afternoon. This may sound cheesy, but first impressions do make the difference. I say this because from walking into the office and being greeted by friendly staff members they know how to treat people.Dental Express Point Loma is very nice. Their lobby is gorgeous/very fancy. This place is a good size. I love the train theme. The actual mini train goes the entire building which was very entertaining. In fact the exam rooms are shaped like passenger rooms on the train. Now, the staff at the front are so warm and welcoming. Even with a mask on you could tell they’re smiling. Check-in was fast especially with the ipads. I got there at 2:40 for a 3:00 appointment and was in the exam room by 2:48. My hygienist /x-ray tech was very good she took her time. Dr. Danielle was running a bit behind, but she’s awesome.I found my new dental home."- J.M. / Yelp / Jun 19, 2020

Best Candidates for Laser Gum Treatment
There are lots of instances in which a laser gum treatment could be performed. If you have periodontal disease, the laser can be employed to eliminate plaque and bacteria that is deep in the pockets of your gum tissue. For a biopsy, the laser is used to excise tissue in the needed area. Laser gum therapy can also help if you wish to get rid of excess gum tissue and then increase teeth visibility to get a more attractive smile. Compared to classic surgery on the gums, laser gum therapies are less invasive and don't require stitches. You may need little or no anesthesia during this gum treatment and less healing time.
What to Expect with Laser Gum Treatment
A laser gum treatment generally only needs local anesthesia. Nevertheless, other sedation choices could be available if you have anxiety. Before your procedure, our team will provide information about being treated for gum disease, getting a dental biopsy, having crown lengthening, or undergoing cosmetic gum sculpting. The laser minimizes bleeding and frequently omits the need for stitches.
Laser Gum Treatment Recovery
Our team will provide you with post-treatment care instructions before you are allowed to leave. Since your gums may be sore or swollen, you may choose to stick to a liquid or soft food diet for a few days. For gum disease treatment or crown lengthening, you might want to schedule a follow-up appointment so we can assess your recovery and decide if a second treatment is necessary. When a biopsy has been performed, you may need to come back to our office to receive your results. If oral cancer is diagnosed, one of our dentists will discuss your treatment options and what to do next.
Laser Gum Treatment Insurance Coverage
Once your laser gum treatment plan is created, our team will go over the payment options. Dental Express accepts lots of payment methods, including low-interest medical financing. If you have insurance, we can contact your provider to determine your coverage and out-of-pocket costs.
Laser Gum Therapy
If you want a quicker and more accurate periodontal treatment, we utilize an advanced laser system for cosmetic and restorative procedures. Whether you need to take care of gum disease, get an oral biopsy, or improve the appearance of your smile, laser gum treatments provide quicker visits and healing times.
