To keep yourself healthy, you should be proactive with dental issues by getting them diagnosed before they become bigger issues. During a dental exam, one of our dentists can identify any potential problems. While the mouth is checked in your cleaning, an exam provides a much more in-depth analysis. The dentist's primary focus is oral health, but they will also check your face, neck, and mouth to identify any abnormalities. Dental examinations at Dental Express assess your general and oral health by looking for tooth decay, disease, and signs of oral cancer. Providing X-rays and sometimes other diagnostics, our dentists will determine your need for procedures and look for problems with your bite and jaw. Digital images can provide better insight into the health of your teeth, jaw, and gums.
Our dentists may ask questions regarding your diet, at-home dental routine, and other lifestyle factors that affect your overall oral health. At Dental Express our goal is to provide you with as much information as possible to help prevent and treat dental issues. We may show you proper flossing or brushing techniques, or even teach you the insider dental secrets to saving money and protecting your teeth at home. It's our mission to see you smile and feel confident in your oral health. If you live in or near San Diego, CA, make an appointment for a dental examination at one of our six Dental Express locations.
Oral Cancer Screening
Oral cancer sounds scary. When identified early and treated properly, oral cancer can be managed and eliminated. It's our job to educate our patients and make them feel comfortable and confident in their dental routines and procedures, leaving our office knowing they are being taken care of and in good hands. What is oral cancer?
Oral cancer is caused by an abnormal growth of cells in the mouth, including on the jawbone, lips, gums, tongue, salivary glands, and throat. At Dental Express, every exam includes a screening for oral cancer to check for early symptoms, such as inflammation, sores, lesions, and lumps. Our dentists will also palpate the neck and jaw for abnormal growths. If any areas of concern are found, a biopsy can be done or you may be referred to a specialist for further care. Be proactive and have a dental exam to rinse away your fears.
Dental Exam Reviews
"I've had some bad experiences with dental treatment & it created a big fear for me. So, I did my research, and stumbled upon Dental Express. I managed to get myself there and keep my appointment, and I am so glad I did. Being at the dentist for the first time is 10 years, and I was very comfortable & welcomed. Dr. Martin told me about the work needed, and after everyone left the room I had a panic attack & started crying. He later came back and asked if I wanted to do a deep cleaning while being there, & noticed I was upset and told me not to worry about it and to do it a later time. I knew right then that I found my place! This place is all you can really ask for. Nice & friendly people!"- E.R. / Yelp / Oct 19, 2017
"I was referred by my mother to go visit Dr. Marabeh who took excellent care of her during her dental procedures. My mother is extremely picky on who she trusts with her dental or health needs so for her to refer someone like Dr. Marabeh with so much enthusiasm was refreshing . So I decided to go for myself and see what the hype was all about. First of all, the office staff greeted me with a smile and were extremely welcoming. The office was pristine and clean. I waited for a short moment after I was greeted and approached by dr. Marabeh. I understood what my mom was raving about. He thoroughly explained everything I needed after examination. He was approachable and confident. I was a bit nervous because the last cleaning/dental procedure I had done wasn't a pleasant experience. I had a cleaning and a filling done and all I can say was kuddos to you dr. Marabeh!!!! I will be back to get the rest of my work done soon with you man! If you are looking for great staff and an amazing Dr. that treats you like a patient and not a customer I highly recommend going to visit Dental Express and specifically asking for DR. MARABEH!"- B.A. / Yelp / Dec 16, 2018

"We just moved to San Diego and I needed a cleaning. I decided to try this office because I live nearby and pass it daily. First off, the outside is very misleading, the inside is beautifully designed and extremely large. My first appt was very successful! I got into the chair quickly and everyone from the front office, the Dr and his assistants were incredibly kind. I will definitely be going back and my husband will also become a patient at this office. I highly recommend it!"- S.S. / Yelp / Dec 07, 2016
Best Candidates for Dental Exam
San Diego, CA residents of every age should get an annual examination. Many common problems, like gum disease (the top cause of tooth loss), do not have noticeable symptoms. If caught early, patients will have more treatment options and a better chance at a full recovery.
In addition, the American Dental Association (ADA) suggests taking children to the dentist before their first birthday. Our team can help with concerns, such as teething, using pacifiers, and learning how to prevent baby bottle tooth decay. At Dental Express, we can help you learn how to care for and clean your baby's teeth. That way, they develop healthy habits early and use them throughout their life.
As your child grows, we understand the importance and impression of the dental visit. Our state-of-the-art offices are designed to feel comfortable and safe for your children. Many kids love playing with the toys and watching the trains as they wait to meet our dentist. At Dental Express, we are committed to creating a positive experience where your child can't wait to come back.
What To Expect
Your examination will start with an overall assessment of your teeth, tongue, gums, throat, the roof of your mouth, and inside your cheeks. The exam will also include checking for symptoms of oral cancer. Our team may take x-rays and screen for abnormal tissue in the gums. Also, we evaluate your neck, head, and jaw, including the temporomandibular joints (TMJ) and bite. If our team finds anything during your exam, we will discuss any issues and treatment options. Finally, we will check any restorations you have, such as crowns and dentures, to check the fit and wear.
If we found anything during the exam, our dentists will schedule a follow-up appointment and review your treatment options. Full transparency before, during, and after your exam is our focus. We may give you a lot of information and recommendations. Don't hesitate to call our office, ask questions, and make sure you fully understand the best steps to maintaining a healthy, happy mouth. In addition to your dental exam and follow-up appointment, you will still want to brush and floss every day, receive biannual professional cleanings, and schedule yearly dental exams. Optimal Dental health starts at home.
Since a dental exam is vital to your health, it's usually covered by dental insurance. Our team is dedicated to helping you receive the best dental care at the most affordable price. During your meeting with the dental planner, we encourage you to ask questions and get to know your policy. Once we have identified your needs, we will talk to your insurance to calculate your coverage and any out-of-pocket expenses.
