About Teeth Whitening
At a time when looks are so important, we know why the appearance of your smile can be a big cosmetic concern. After all, who doesn’t want white, shiny teeth? Unfortunately, maintaining a bright smile with fresh, “pearly whites” is getting harder and harder these days. With all the coffee and sugar-laden foods and drinks, our mouths are much more susceptible to discoloration. And over-the-counter methods only do so much.
Thankfully, Dental Express in San Diego, CA, can help you address this concern with professional teeth whitening. There are plenty of over-the-counter teeth whitening options, but our dental practice offers professional teeth whitening products that the drugstore brands can only hope to compete with. Our whitening treatments can brighten your teeth by several shades and help you maintain your results. We use professional-strength gels that work to reach beneath the surface of your teeth and remove deep stains. If you’re looking to freshen up your smile and attain a whiter, brighter look, give us a call at one of our San Diego area dental offices to schedule a consultation and learn more.
Types of Teeth Whitening
Dental Express, serving numerous locations throughout San Diego, is proud to offer two popular teeth whitening options for men and women. Based on your specific aesthetic goals and lifestyle, you can choose to have your teeth whitening occur directly inside our office or in the comfort of your own home. We offer Speed Teeth Whitening and Boost Teeth Whitening to help you achieve your results.
Speed Teeth Whitening Kit
For convenience, we offer at-home teeth whitening with our Speed Teeth Whitening kits. Patients can stop by and pick up a Speed Teeth Whitening Kit, which includes four gel applications, trays, and an LED light. Generally, patients are thrilled with their results. In just 20 minutes, you’ll typically see a noticeable difference! In some cases, you might need multiple kits to see the full results. In addition to your biannual exams and healthy oral hygiene at home, Speed Teeth Whitening kits will help you get that whiter and brighter smile you’ve always wanted.
Boost Teeth Whitening
Additionally, we conveniently offer in-office Boost Teeth Whitening treatments. Usually, we can complete treatments during a quick and painless one-hour session. Before we start applying the whitening gel, we'll help you choose the best shade for your teeth and then begin the treatment. While relaxing in our treatment chair, one of our dentists will apply the gel to your teeth. Afterward, you’ll notice a significant difference.
"This place has been good so far. They are friendly and professional. Office is very clean and modern. Location is convenient if you are any where near point Loma. Ruben is an all-star extremely informative and has great communication, a pleasure to deal with. Dr Casey seems real down to earth and also easy to deal with. Overall my experience has been good and I would reccomend this spot."- J.F. / Google / Nov 13, 2019
"I took my kids last week for a cleaning. They love the train. The staff was professional and great with them. I went back for my self today and had Kim for my cleaning. She was awesome!! Very thorough, you could tell she took pride in her work. I have and will recommend this dentist practice to others."- C.B. / Yelp / Jan 13, 2021
"What great atsmospere. Friendly, helpful and very kind"- T.S. / Google / Jan 08, 2021
"A big THANK YOU to the beautiful hardworking ladies at the downtown san diego office, i got an emergency filling in record time in a tooth that broke. They really take the weight off your shoulders in terms of "the fear of the dentist" and made it a quick and painless experience that I would recommend to anyone else who has dental needs, and a plus is that they take MEDI-CAL. They do a covid screening before making the appointment and before entering the building and everyone is pretty friendly. Thanks again!"- A.J. / Google / Dec 19, 2020
"It took me a long time to find a good and caring doctor as I have been developing a huge dentist phobia since childhood. That’s how I met Dr Michelle, a true professional. Very thoughtful, passionate, kind and understanding. Even though I moved from the area a year ago, and I tried to go see other places where I live now, I had to go back to Dr Michelle. The whole staff is totally amazing and professional.Recently I had my cleaning and as much as I felt anxious , I had an unforgettable experience with Paula, their new hygienist. She is truly one of the best experiences I had in a dentist office and I don’t have words to describe her. I felt so relaxed and no pain even though my teeth are very problematic and sensitive. When she finished I felt like crying out of happiness. She was unforgettable and I can’t wait to go back for my cleaning. As a person who dealt for a long time with this phobia, I found this place to be one of the only places where I felt relaxed. Even from the first time when I called and made an appointment and explained to them I have a huge phobia, I was recommended one of the best.I am very thankful for the whole staff, but Dr Michelle and Paula will forever have my heart! This is definitely a GO TO place and I will take the drive from La Jolla to Downtown as much as I need to!"- C.D. / Yelp / Dec 18, 2020
IS Teeth Whitening for YOU?
Before opting for a professional whitening treatment, you and your dentist should work together to make sure you have a healthy mouth. If you struggle with cavities or gingivitis, it’s essential to get those issues under control first. The whitening process could create more problems depending on your current oral health, so stay on top of your regular dentist visits and oral care regimen at home.
When contemplating the pros and cons of professional-strength vs. over-the-counter whitening solutions, we ask patients to think about their goals. If your smile has been white your whole life and only recently is starting to yellow, a grocery store purchased product might create great temporary results. If your teeth have darker stains, you might be a good candidate for in-office professional Boost Teeth Whitening or our take-home Speed Teeth Whitening kit at Dental Express. For patients who want the in-office Boost Teeth Whitening treatments and a way to maintain the results, we can also provide custom-made trays, which can be used in conjunction with our whitening sessions.
What To Expect
What to expect for teeth whitening treatments depends on the process you choose with your dentist. Since our offices provide a few different options for successful and professional teeth whitening, the process is determined after discussing your cosmetic goals with our team. In most cases, our dentists can complete professional Boost Teeth Whitening procedures in under an hour. We apply a professional-strength whitening gel during the treatment and use an LED light that quickly whitens the teeth several shades. Keep in mind, any tooth-colored restorations like bonding, crowns, or implants won’t be affected by the whitening treatment.
Our at-home kits are effective but take longer to produce results than our in-office treatments. Regardless of which professional treatment you pick, you can expect to see results weeks faster than the whitening options you’ll find at the drugstore.
After either session, you may experience some sensitivity to cold or hot food, but this should stop after a few days. Just like all dental procedures, routine dental examinations, and a consistent at-home dental care routine are essential to maintaining your results. Our exams will check for everything from gum tissue health to the state of each tooth. When the treatment is completed, we usually advise returning for touch-ups a few times a year, along with biannual cleanings. Remember that simply because your teeth are white doesn’t necessarily mean they’re in perfect health. You should still schedule your routine checkups as often as recommended to make sure your teeth are as healthy on the inside as they look on the outside. You'll also receive instructions concerning what foods and drinks should and shouldn't be consumed in the future, such as berries, red wine, and coffee.
Because teeth whitening is considered optional and cosmetic, it isn't usually covered by dental insurance providers. Nonetheless, our billing team will assess your dental benefits to determine whether your insurance covers any portion of your dental appointment. If you don’t carry dental insurance, we’ll talk with you about our payment options, as well as the possibility of low-interest medical financing.
Professional teeth Whitening
Professional teeth whitening provides fast and dramatic improvements to your teeth. It also delivers drastic improvements to your happiness! White, shiny, beautiful teeth are a one-way ticket to feeling on top of the world. If you’ve been considering a teeth whitening regimen but aren’t sure whether to go with professional or over-the-counter options, schedule a consultation with one of our dentists to see which whitening treatment is best for you and your smile.
